Spokane County Arrest History
A Spokane County arrest can begin with the Sheriff, Spokane Police, Spokane Valley Police under its Sheriff contract, Liberty Lake Police, Cheney Police, Airway Heights Police, Washington State Patrol, or a campus agency. Each arresting agency controls its own incident narrative. Spokane County Detention Services separately creates the intake and custody record when a person reaches the county jail system.
That split matters. An arrest history may refer to agency reports and booking events over time, but it is not a list of convictions. Prosecutors may amend, replace, or decline the charge first stated at booking. A released person may vanish from the current roster while the report and court trail remain. For a sound Spokane County arrest search, carry the police report number back to the arresting agency and the case number forward to the court.
Spokane County Roster Controls
The official Spokane County inmate roster is the fastest source for present or recent local custody. Its actual controls are Current Inmates, Recent Bookings, Recent Releases, surname letters A through Z, and All. It does not offer the typed name and booking-number search sometimes described on older directory pages.
An opened detail can show the inmate name, County ID, booking number, intake time, case number, bond amount when applicable, the court that set bond, charge code, plain-language charge, police report number, and report agency. The inspected roster did not show a mugshot, birth date, body descriptors, housing location, release time, or confidential health and classification data. Use the roster to find routing keys, not as a full life history or a complete Spokane County booking file.
Note: A roster charge records the booking stage and must not be quoted as a conviction or final filed charge.
Looking Up Spokane County Arrests
No official portal covers every stage. The best sequence starts with custody, then moves to the office that created each record. Keep legal spellings, the report number, booking number, case number, arrest date, and location together as you move through these channels.
- Check the official roster’s Current Inmates, Recent Bookings, Recent Releases, and surname controls. Save the report agency, police report number, booking number, and court case number shown.
- Ask the arresting agency for the incident or arrest report. Sheriff and Spokane Valley matters go through Sheriff disclosure, while city departments and WSP use their own public-record channels.
- Search the Spokane local courts portal for a filed case. A court record may remain after release and may show charges that differ from the booking label.
- Request protected booking detail from Detention Services only if you have the signed waiver or judge-signed order Spokane County requires, plus valid identification.
- Use Washington Access to Criminal History for the public statewide repository product. WATCH includes Washington convictions and certain recent pending-disposition arrests, but not every nonconviction arrest held in WASIS.
For operational custody questions, Detention Services publishes 509-477-2278. Court documents do not go through the county’s general GovQA portal. Superior Court records belong with the County Clerk, and District or municipal court records belong with the named court.
Spokane County Arrest Agency Routes
The agency name on the roster is a practical routing clue. A Spokane Police report goes to Police Records at 509-625-4030 through the city’s records process. Sheriff and Spokane Valley contract-policing reports go through Sheriff public disclosure. Liberty Lake, Cheney, and Airway Heights keep their own police-report channels. WSP patrol reports use WSP public disclosure, while WATCH supplies a separate state repository product.
The Sheriff’s disclosure rules explain that investigative facts and protected victim or witness details may be withheld under Washington law. A focused request should name the incident or report number, date range, location, department, record type, and desired format. That is more useful than a broad demand for all arrest history.

Inside a Spokane County Arrest Record
The agency report can state when and where an arrest occurred, which agency acted, the claimed probable cause, a warrant number, property or evidence references, and the charge cited at that time. The separate booking process adds identity checks, fingerprints, an intake image, bond or hold data, and custody events. Public roster details are only a limited slice of those records.
| Booking Number | The detention identifier used to distinguish one intake event and locate related custody data. |
|---|---|
| Intake Date and Time | When county detention staff recorded arrival, which can be hours after the arrest itself. |
| Report Agency | The police or sheriff agency that can route a request for the arrest or incident narrative. |
| Police Report Number | The key used by the arresting agency to locate its event file. |
| Charge and RCW Code | The allegation recorded for booking, which can change after prosecutor review. |
| Bond and Court | The public amount when applicable and the court listed as setting it. |
| Case Number | The link to a filed court matter when a case has been created. |
Victim and witness identities, juvenile data, medical or mental-health facts, protected housing details, and active investigative material may be redacted or withheld. The roster does not publish the underlying intake photograph, and no official booking image should be inferred from an absent field.
Protected Spokane County Booking Files
Washington’s RCW 70.48.100 jail-record rule draws a firm line between the public roster and the underlying jail file. Spokane County requires a signed waiver from the inmate or a judge-signed court order, along with valid identification, for a request seeking specific protected inmate information. A roster listing does not waive that requirement.
Send police narrative requests to the arresting agency instead. Use the court clerk for probable-cause filings, filed charges, hearings, and dispositions. This division prevents a common mistake: asking Detention Services to supply an agency report or asking the county Public Records Office for a court file. Each Spokane County arrest record remains with the office that created it.
Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
Spokane County publishes both recent booking and recent release views alongside the current roster. Those official lists are useful when an arrest is new or a person has just left custody. Intake may not appear at once. County guidance says pre-jail police work can take up to four hours, while jail intake often takes another four to six hours. An intoxicated person may remain longer until release is safe.
Intake can include medical screening, a contraband search, a photograph, fingerprints, personal and charge data entry, bail calculation, court-date setting, a classification interview, and housing. The delay explains why an observed Spokane County arrest may not appear on the roster right away. It does not justify relying on an unofficial booking mirror.
Entries also roll out of current custody after release or transfer. If a recent name is absent, check Recent Releases, the proper court index, and the arresting agency rather than drawing a conclusion from silence.
Spokane County Arrest Data Flow
Booking fingerprints and arrest-event data may move from Spokane County to the Washington State Patrol and receive a state identity record in WASIS. Courts and justice agencies later report dispositions back to WSP. Missing identifiers, delayed reports, or unmatched outcomes can leave an arrest cycle without its court result.
The public WATCH transcript is narrower than the full state repository. It reports Washington convictions, arrests less than one year old whose dispositions remain pending, and sex or kidnapping registration information. It omits much nonconviction material and excludes sealed or vacated cases. A no-record answer means no matching public record under the search terms, not that no local arrest or federal, out-of-state, or sealed matter exists.
The flow is: arresting agency report → Spokane County booking entry → prosecutor charging choice → court disposition → WSP update. A person correcting their own record may need both WSP and the contributing agency or court, since changing one docket does not rewrite every downstream copy.
Carry the roster's police report number back to the named agency and its case number to the correct clerk. Those two identifiers bridge Spokane County arrest data without treating a booking allegation as the court's final charge.
Arrests Are Not Convictions
An arrest records a custody event based on alleged probable cause. A conviction records a court outcome after a guilty plea or finding. The booking charge may be amended, declined, dismissed, replaced, or resolved by acquittal. For that reason, the final outcome belongs in the Spokane County criminal court case file, not in a roster label alone.
| Point | Arrest Record | Conviction Record |
|---|---|---|
| Created by | Arresting agency and detention staff | The court, then reported to WSP |
| What it shows | An alleged offense, custody, and booking | A guilty plea or finding and disposition |
| Official source | Police records channel and county roster | Court clerk and the public WATCH product |
| Possible outcome | Release, no charge, amendment, or filed case | Sentence, appeal, vacation, or other court relief |
Note: A Spokane County arrest is not proof of guilt, and many bookings do not end in a conviction.
After Spokane County Custody
A person who leaves the Spokane County roster may have been released, transferred, or moved into another custody system. Washington VINELink provides custody-status notifications, but it is a supplement rather than a complete arrest history.
The notification screen helps explain why the current jail roster and custody alerts serve different needs after a booking event.
For a state sentence or qualifying community-custody record, use the official Washington DOC Incarcerated Individual Search. That source does not cover ordinary pretrial detention in the Spokane County Jail.
The DOC locator marks the shift from county booking data to state custody information. Federal custody follows a separate Bureau of Prisons channel.
